Our Evolution

From school-age technical curiosity to national technical production, this is the journey of Scott Mackin and the growth of Moonlight Events into a leading technical partner.

Starting Out

The journey began with a fascination for the technical “magic” behind theatre productions. What started as managing school concerts and amateur theatre lighting soon evolved into professional work experience across local Southport venues. By reinvesting every early earning, Scott Mackin built a specialist lighting inventory from the ground up, filling a critical gap for high-quality technical hire within the regional theatre circuit.

Diversification

In 2020, as the global industry paused, the firm pivoted to support a growing B2C market. By developing a range of illuminated event features and “lockdown packages,” the company remained resilient and significantly expanded its product range. This period of diversification laid the groundwork for a broader event production service that seamlessly blends creative aesthetics with technical engineering.

Expanding Scale

As the complexity of nationwide contracts accelerated, Moonlight Events reached a major milestone in 2025 by securing an additional 5,000 sq/ft warehouse facility in the North West. This professional infrastructure now houses high-specification staging, lighting, and audio assets—including our newly launched Southport content and podcast studio—allowing us to deliver end-to-end technical solutions for theatre, corporate, and digital sectors.
