Queenscourt Strictly: A Fundraiser Like No Other!

“Queenscourt Strictly” was a fantastic event with the mission to raise money for Queenscourt Hospice in the form of a charity Strictly Come Dancing style fundraiser. With contestants preparing for weeks prior, the event turned out to be a huge success, raising over £50,000 for Queenscourt.

Queenscourt Hospice is a local charity providing exceptional compassionate care and support for the people of West Lancashire, Southport and Formby. They offer palliative care for patients, enabling them to achieve the best possible quality of life at each stage. They do this both in the Hospice and at Home through their In-Patient Unit, Queenscourt Connect and Queenscourt at Home services.

After being contacted by the fundraising team at Queenscourt – we were tasked on transforming the Prince of Wales Hotel Ballroom into a space comparable to BBC’s Strictly!

With our prior knowledge of the ballroom, our team knew the best way to achieve this.

For sound and PA, we installed a fully active FBT array sound system to provide even coverage both on the floor and on the balcony of the venue.

For the main lighting package, we installed two truss lighting towers either side of the contestants’ entrance to the ballroom, in addition to two smaller towers on the balcony with x22 moving heads rigged across the 4 towers. Once programmed, these created stunning arial effects as the audience entered, plus some phenomenal bespoke programming for each contestant’s performance. Not to forget the 32 up lights that we used to illuminate the grand pillars / architecture in the venue.

Finally, we projection mapped onto each wall either side of the room to display key video content, running order, QR codes and other event relevant information that allowed the audience to be involved in the Fundraiser, making voting/donating easy for the audience.

The show was an incredible experience for our team – we thoroughly enjoyed playing a small part in the overall success of the event. We cannot wait to help Queenscourt do the same again next year!
